On Tone, and what listening means

When you make a tone argument, you’re saying “my comfort with this conversation is more important than listening to you”.

Is that a blanket statement you want to make? Really?

When you make a tone argument, you’re saying “I get to set the bar for participating in this dialogue. No matter how important this topic is to you, no matter how much pain it’s caused you in the past, you still have to meet my standards before I’ll listen to you.”

Do you really think that counts as listening?
